Glass Insurance
THE POLICY
The Glass policy pays for the cost to replace broken glass.
WHO NEEDS THIS COVER?
Suitable where short term cover is required for Church owned property and the Composite Risks Property policy is not appropriate.
DEDUCTIBLE/EXCESS
The cover is subject to a deductible of $500.
LIMITS OF LIABILITY
There is no limit of liability, the policy will pay for the full replacement cost of the broken glass if the glass is specified in the schedule.
FIRE SERVICES LEVIES and STAMP DUTY
Fire services levies do not apply but the appropriate state stamp duty is added to the premium.
FEATURES and BENEFITS
The policy extends to cover:
- The cost of temporary shuttering, boarding and protection.
- The cost of replacing writing or ornamentation or burglar alarm tape or wiring.
- The cost of repairing damaged window frames, showcase frames and fittings.
- The loss arising from damaged or destroyed stock resulting from broken glass.
- The cost of removal or replacement of fixtures fittings or other obstructions consequent upon breakage of any glass insured by the policy.
IMPORTANT POINTS
In this policy "breakage" means a fracture extending through the entire thickness of the glass and shall not include any other damage or disfiguration. In the case of laminated glass the words "entire thickness" shall mean the entire thickness of the lamination.
Because of changes in building regulations and safety issues, it is often necessary to replace broken glass with higher quality and more expensive glass and this is covered by the policy.
The policy does not cover:
- Breakage caused by fire or artificial heat.
- Breakage of glass ordinarily carried by hand or of glass in radios or television sets, clocks, light bulbs, pictures, fluorescent tubes and the like.
TAKING OUT A POLICY
Catholic Church Insurances Limited will assist in obtaining information necessary for providing a quotation and issuing a policy.
In the event of malicious breakage, the Insured must report the matter to the police.
